The effect — what they see
The spectator deals and mixes the deck, then thinks of a number, secretly counts down to that position, and remembers the card waiting there. They square the deck, cut it, and only tell you the number they thought of, which seems useless to you. Yet after one more round of dealing they themselves bring you straight to their card.
Can I learn this now?
A little rehearsal will do it; nothing difficult to handle. It works with a borrowed, shuffled deck.

Mephisto's Prediction
You write a prediction in advance, and a freely chosen card is found counted down to that exact number.
The Card and Number
The spectator shuffles, you cut off a small packet, and they freely touch and remember one card from a fan.
Infallible Detection
A spectator merely thinks of a number, peeks at the card there, and you produce that exact card from your pocket.
